*A National  conference on the theme CREATIVE WRITING IN SCIENCE FOR
CHILDREN (CWSC):*

*The National Centre for Science Communicators* (NCSC) is a pulsating
science communication organisation with national and international reach.
Its members include science communicators from varied fields of
communication – print media, television, radio, planetaria, science centres
etc.

*Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education* (HBCSE) is a National Centre of
the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. The broad goals
of the Centre are to promote equity and excellence in science and
mathematics education from primary school to undergraduate college level,
and encourage the growth of scientific literacy in the country.

National Centre for Science Communicators (NCSC) jointly with Homi Bhabha
Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), TIFR Mumbai, is organising a
conference on the theme *CREATIVE** WRITING IN SCIENCE FOR CHILDREN (CWSC*)
on* 3rd* and *4th October 2015* at VG Kulkarni Auditorium at Homi Bhabha
Centre for Science Education. V.N. Purav Marg, Mankhurd, Mumbai 400088.

The conference is targeted at scientists, science communicators, aspiring
science writers, students of literature and journalism, editors, educators,
teachers, B. Ed students, illustrators, publishers and distributors,
science education centres, funding organisations, NGOs and research
charities and other stakeholders in early science education.

This conference proposes to take stock of the developmental status of
Creative Science Literature for Children in India and to develop an
operational strategy of bringing together seasoned professionals, creative
science writers and aspiring writers with learning and mentoring mode. The
elements of supply chain include editors, illustrators, bookstores and
distributors. The conference will strive to create necessary and sufficient
conditions in the country to educate and inspire young readers through
powerful science stories and to sensitize an effective supply chain.

The key note address will be delivered by *Prof. Jayant V .Narlikar,*
Emeritus Professor, Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics
(IUCAA), Pune.

Dr. V.S.Venkatavardan, Eminent Physicist and former Director of the Nehru
Planetarium, Mumbai, Prof. S Sivadas Professor of Chemistry, Editor Eureka,
Vithal Nadkarni, Science Journalist &Former Asst.Editor, Science Today ,
Dr.Bal Phondke, Molecular Biologist- Former Editor, Science Today and
former Director, National Institute of Science Communication and
Information Resources (NISCAIR), New Delhi and Science Communicator, Dr.B B
Singh Biologist-Lawyer, Anil Manekar, Dy. Director General , National
Council of Science Museums, Kolkata, India , Ms Navin Menon, Chief Editor,
Children’s Book Trust , Devendra Mewari, children's science writer have
kindly agreed to deliver invited talks. The luminaries would be present on
both the days.
